Alco Air Proudly Supports Our Longview, TX Community
The impact that Habitat for Humanity has had for those in need of a home is tremendous. This year, Alco Air is proud to say we partnered with Habitat for Humanity and took part in a charity event called “Raising The Roof. At this event, we were the designated waitstaff: responsible for setting up, designing & waiting on the guests attending the charity, in return for tips. These tips went towards an additional donation fund, which went above & beyond what the guests paid to attend the event. We took it upon ourselves to decorate the table with items that diners would be interested in “purchasing” in the form of tips/donations, so it went incredibly well. This ingenuity allowed us to raise significantly more than most of the other “waitstaff” and acknowledgment at the event with an award. This event usually procures about 80 – 90 thousand dollars annually, so we were excited to participate in a cause that has such an amazing reach throughout our community and beyond.
We chose this event because we know how important it is to have a roof over your head and hot water in the pipes. A house provides shelter, one of the most important human necessities, but a home is also where a family grows, learns and loves together and that is something more valuable than any mortgage loan. The problem lies however, in the fact that living in a house also comes with many trade-offs to ensure the rent or mortgage payments are being met, according to the Habitat for Humanity website, including:
The contributions we were able to make during this fundraiser will help ensure parents will be able to spend more time at home, and less time attempting to procure the funds needed to build and maintain an adequate shelter for their families. And to top it of, our team’s efforts were even recognized with a “Rookie of the Year” award!
We were thrilled with our team’s efforts and were honored to be acknowledged, but most of all, we were happy to be able to give back to a community who has made our business what it is today, and that made this event that much more meaningful to us.
